My company is (or was) a HUBZone Certified Small Business Concern. My company lost some contracts and so, I had to terminate employees because I could no longer afford to pay them. However, in doing so, my company dropped below the required 35% staffing of HUBZone employees. We did recover to above the 35% level within a reasonable time-frame and are currently compliant. However, we may be decertified because we were not CONSISTANTLY in compliance with the 35% criteria. I suggest that we and others be given a 12 month grace period to once again become fully compliant when sudden drops in revenue demands a reduction in force. A small business cannot afford to have people paid that are not generating revenue as some large businesses can and even budget for such.
Please hear my request and support the real and honest small business owner. Let me hear your response...
